Houston Travel Guide
Named after the legendary Sam Houston, Houston, Texas has become one of the fastest growing multicultural cities in the states.
Houston has many nicknames, "H-Town", "Hustletown", "Magnolia City", but it is probably best known as "Space City", because NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) is nearby.
In Houston, you’ll never run out of things to do or see. In addition to the Johnson Space Center, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, there are many attractions worth checking out on your next visit. Some of Houston's more popular attractions include the Houston Museum of Natural Science (located in the Museum District), the Houston Zoo and the Theater District. The Theater District, in particular, is nationally recognized because it allows Houston to boast what only a handful of cities in the U.S. can claim: to have permanent, professional, resident companies in all four of the major performing arts disciplines (ballet, music, opera and theater).
For those with tastes not falling into the cultural aspects of Houston, the city offers several interests for sporting fans as well. Home to the Houston Astros (MLB), Texans (NFL), Rockets (NBA), Comets (WNBA) and Dynamos (MLS), H-Town fans have something to cheer for year round. There are also many annual events for you and your family’s enjoyment such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which is held 20 days from late February into early March, the Greek Festival and the Houston Auto Show.
Whether just passing through or stopping by to visit old friends, we hope you enjoy your visit to Houston!
